When I first became interested in diversity and social justice issues at U-M:
Honestly, I did not become involved in diversity and social justice issues until I attended Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Commission. It was there that I met a bunch of really different and unique people. I made many friends and we all work really hard fighting for the rights of all people.

Classes that sparked my interest in social justice issues and the law:
The first class I took that made me interested in social justice was an introductory course on LGBT issues. Since then, I have taken another Women's Studies course as well as an American Culture class that dealt with race issues.

Co-curricular experiences I’ve been involved with:
It was not until my sophomore year that I got involved with LGBT Commission and Stonewall Democrats. I have put a lot of time and effort into these groups. And in the middle of my sophomore year I got a job at the Office of LGBT Affairs.

I found out about Stonewall Democrats and LGBT Commission through word of mouth and friends. I learned about the job opening at the Office of LGBT Affairs from socializing in the office.

Advice I would give to students who are trying to navigate their way around the social justice and diversity related experiences at U-M:
Start early, do not waste time getting involved because you are hesitant. I deeply regret that I was not involved at all my freshman year and could have done some really great things during that time. So get involved now.
